NYC MAYOR BLOOMBERG TELLS RESIDENTS- “YOU HAVE UNTIL NOON, THEN YOU’RE ON YOUR OWN”

New York-  NYC Transit was shut down at noon in prepartion for Hurricane Irene. Mayor Michael Bloomberg insisted this was the best course of action to prevent any possible problems which could be caused by the oncoming storm.

As rain started falling, the mayor urged New Yorkers to leave —immediately.

“The city does not have enough resources to waste on morons who choose to wait until it’s too late and then cry for help after the weather worsens”, he said, “staying behind is dangerous, staying behind is foolish, and we urge everyone in the evacuation zones not to wait until 120 mph winds are blowing up their skirts,” he said at a news conference from Coney Island. “The time to leave is now, you have until noon.”

The mayor has received harsh criticism from residents who are not used to being told what to do.

“Who does he think he is, huh?” said an outraged Marta Ramirez,”he’s not the boss of me. I’ll leave if and when I want. He can’t order me around. Kiss my a*# Bloomberg, I never voted for your sorry a*# anyway.”

The City of New York and specifically the mayor were taken to task for their slow reaction to a major snowstorm this past winter that crippled the city, leaving many streets unplowed for days. The mayor has decided to take preemptive action with this storm, which has been categorized as a class 1 hurricane.

“Get out people. Leave. How much clearer can I be? I’m serious, get the hell out of Dodge by noon or you’ll be a statistic. A hurricane and a city of glass do not make for good dance partners. I’ve said all I can, now I have to turn my back on you,” said the mayor as he threw his hands up and walked away from the podium.

New Yorkers are tough and resilient, it will take more than a hurricane to make them back down, just ask Donnie from the meat packing district, “we ain’t goin’ nowhere. We’re New Yorkers, we don’t turn tail and run from no one. You got me? They can do that stuff down south, but we don’t back down from a little wind up here, it’s gonna take more than that. Bring your best Irene, we’ll be waitin’.”

Yes, Donnie, we shall see. Good luck. It appears you have until noon to change your mind.
